    The program

    Join me and 12 other people on a 6-day Urban Sketching workshop in western France at the beautiful Château Le Grippault as we explore the beautiful 17th-Century urban architecture of Cardinal Richelieu's 'Ideal City'.

    Sunday

    Afternoon collection from Châtellerault train station to Château Le Grippault. Early evening welcome event and presentation. Evening dinner and drinks.

    Monday

    Morning orientation walk around Richelieu, plotting interesting places to draw, rapid sketching session. Afternoon trip to the Musee de Richelieu and sketching session. After-dinner tutorial.

    Tuesday

    Morning workshop in Château Le Grippault. Afternoon workshop sketching Richelieu's two town squares. After-dinner slideshow talk.

    Wednesday

    Morning workshop sketching the palace gardens including the buildings. Afternoon excursion to medieval Faye la Vineuse. After-dinner sketching help session.

    Thursday

    Morning sketching workshop: Richelieu Market Hall (part 1; drawing the architecture). Afternoon free sketching session of your choice. After-dinner tutorial.

    Friday

    Morning workshop: Richelieu Market Hall (part 2; drawing the people). Afternoon workshop in Château Le Grippault (combining our drawings). After-dinner group presentation of artworks.

    Saturday

    Morning breakfast and farewell photos for websites and social media. Departure for train station (11:45)

    Food and drink

    The Château Le Grippault accommodation includes breakfast and evening meals (vegetarian catered meals available). For lunch you can construct your own sandwich from supplied ingredients.

    There are 8 rooms with bathrooms available for the workshop. 6 rooms can be shared and there are 2 single rooms available.

    €1,375 per person for single occupancy
    €1,150 per person for double occupancy
